Police are looking for a person they say crashed into a District 66 home and took off over the weekend and it was all caught on camera.

At about 4am on Saturday, November 19, the SUV rammed straight into the garage of the home at 94th & Pine St.  Surveillance video shows the driver trying to back out about 6-7 times before fleeing through the front yard.  Thousands of dollars in damage is caused to the house.

Homeowner Mike Corrado says he was in the process of selling the house, so no one was home or hurt when the incident occurred.

"It's really sad that someone would do something like that and just leave the scene, not report to insurance it just makes you think about what kind of person they are to do something like that,” Corrado explained.

Pieces of the vehicle including a side mirror and the license plate were left at the scene.

Corrado called police, but took it upon himself to look for the SUV and get answers.  Turns out he didn't have to go far because he found the vehicle just 3 blocks away.

"I was actually able to stumble across the vehicle that was red, it was an SUV, and had damage to it.  As soon as I saw that I called the police right away,” Corrado described. "They immediately recognized that it was stolen."

If you have any information on who was driving the red GMC Suburban on the morning of November 19th in the neighborhoods near 96th & Pacific St. call the Omaha Police Department at 402-444-7867.
