Some of the hiking trails at Fontenelle Forest are closed Monday because of a planned prescribed burn.
“Most upland trails and the Riverview Boardwalk are closed today in order for our land stewardship team to conduct a prescribed burn. If you’re going to hike today, we recommend visiting the wetlands or Neale Woods,” they said in a post on Facebook.

Fontenelle Forest wildlife experts say nearby residents may see some smoke coming from the area.
The burn is part of the Save the Oaks project, which they say will help open up the forest canopy to allow more light to penetrate all the way to the ground.
