A downtown Omaha building at the center of a development dispute is a step closer to landing on the city's landmark registry.
The Omaha Planning Board voted 7-0 to recommend granting that status to the Perrin Building near 18th and Howard.
Douglas County wants to use eminent domain to seize and knock it down in order to build a new juvenile justice center, which preservationists are against.
The landmark recommendation now goes to the City Council.
