OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Protesters joined together in Omaha to say they want protections to keep tenants safe.

Friday was International Workers Day. They held a car rally to maintain their distance from others.

The group Omaha Tenants United is calling for an end to evictions for any reason right now and a freeze to rent during the pandemic.

They also ask the city of Omaha to take all measures to provide a roof over the heads of the homeless.

Governor Pete Ricketts has issued an executive order that halts evictions for people whose job status has been impacted by COVID-19. There are exceptions such as criminal conduct on the property and vandalism.
