OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Ralston Public Schools has confirmed that three students have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
The district has divided student's school schedules into two groups: red square days and blue triangle days.
Two high school students, a junior and senior at Ralston High School, were scheduled on blue square days and have been diagnosed with COVID-19. A student in fifth grade at Mockingbird Elementary was also scheduled for blue triangle days and has contracted the virus.
The district says it is working with the Douglas County Health Department on the investigation. The district has communicated directly with families considered to have close contact - within six feet for at least 15 minutes- with the individuals. Those who had close contact are being asked to self-quarantine.
"We are communicating with you to keep you informed of the situation," the district said, adding they cannot release more information due to privacy laws. "As with each confirmed case, our response as a district will meet or exceed health department recommendations."
The district says it is deep cleaning the affected classrooms and will be expanding efforts to protect those inside its schools.
"We take these cases, and your child’s well-being seriously."
