Efforts to fix crumbling county bridges in Nebraska and complete the state's unfinished expressway system will get a funding boost.
Governor Pete Ricketts signed a bill into law creating a $450 million dollar state fund for highway construction projects. The bill creates what's called an infrastructure bank that will finance the work through 2033. It will draw $50 million from the state's cash reserve and used additional money raised by a gas tax increase approved last year.
Ricketts says a safe and efficient infrastructure is essential to growing tourism, agriculture and manufacturing.
