The man convicted of murdering his mother and young half brother was sentenced to life in prison for each of the crimes.
A judge issued the sentence for Robert Martinez-Marinero shortly after he entered a plea. The judge ordered him to serve two life sentences and five years in prison.
The sister of the victim spoke at the hearing. She told the court that Martinez-Marinero deserved the punishment given him.

The man accused of murdering his mother and young half brother is in court Wednesday morning for a potential plea deal.
Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine said prosecutors would not seek the death penalty for Roberto Martinez-Marinero in exchange for guilty pleas in the charges against him.
Martinez-Marinero was accused of murdering Ismenia Marinero and throwing his 4-year-old half brother, Josue Ramirez-Marinero, in the Elkhorn River.
