Frosty temperatures approaching the metro mean whether you like it or not, summer is definitely over and even colder weather isn't far away.
Meteorologist Jennifer Zepplin said Omahans can expect to wake up to cold temperatures Thursday morning in the 30s and 20s.
Even though this gloomy weather says Fall, our lawn still says summer. Signature Lawn & Landscaping owner Randy Romanik says the rain has helped keep our lawns green.
Romanik suggests using the recent rain to do some lawn care to protect your lawn for a few more weeks.
"I've never seen so much rain in so many days in the fall before. Being that the yard is still pretty green it was warm not that long ago, so if you haven't gotten aeration done it's not too late to get it done and get over seeding done," said Romanik.
To protect spring-planted plants, Romanik suggests bundling them with a sheet.
"It just keeps the heat in so the plants don't freeze. The natural heat of the ground and the plants keep the plant alive," added Romanik.
