OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A bill aimed at getting tough on sex offenders got second round approval as Nebraska lawmakers returned to work.

State senators met at the Unicameral for the first time since late March.

The bill includes amendments from several other proposals. If passed, it would outlaw sexual assault of minors by authority figures, and make the sexual assault of students by school officials its own separate offense.

The combined bill passed by a 46-to-nothing vote.
