There's been a shakeup in the Douglas County Assessor's office.
Assistant deputy of operations and assessment Kris Pierce was relieved of his duties Monday morning. County Assessor Diane Battiato says Pierce's position was eliminated. Pierce was dismissed and his personal items were boxed up and his office cleared.
Pierce made a comment to Battiato asking if she found his gun. Battiato says she told a deputy outside the office about his comment. The deputy patted Pierce down but did not find a weapon. Pierce was then escorted out of the building without incident.
