Shooting at Fade Kings barbershop

Posted

A shooting at a barbershop rattled South Omaha Friday.

Police say one person was wounded near 29th and Q.

“Wow it was so close.”

It was around 10 o’clock Friday morning police responded to gun shots at Fade Kings Barbershop in South Omaha.

“Officers did locate a male victim that suffered from gunshot wounds, at this point we are still in the early stages of the investigation”

Police say 23 year old Lucas M. Ortiz was attempting to rob Fade Kings barbershop when gunshots were exchanged between Ortiz and an employee.

A woman working nearby says she witnessed what happened driving into work.

“I saw that they picked up a body that was on the sidewalk lying down and the person seemed to be ok because they got up.”

She says she thought someone had just slipped while walking in the snow.

“Once I came in and looked out the window I got to see it was something more serious.”

Ortiz is now being treated at Nebraska Medical Center.

“It’s not something that usually happens or something we expect to happen.”

The woman says this incident doesn’t make her afraid to work in this area, but can’t believe this happened near a place she comes to everyday.

“I was confused like I said I did not see a car accident I thought someone got pulled over.”

The suspect is recovering at Nebraska Medical Center under Police hospital guard.
