OMAHA, Neb. — It's 2020 - a brand new decade. It may be the perfect time to set some brand new financial goals. John Morey from Morey and Quinn Wealth Partners says it's the simple financial things that people overlook that can make all the difference.
"An embarrassingly high number of people don't understand what they're doing or what money they have to work with," Morey said.
Morey has been working with finances for 33 years. He says there's three goals you can set for yourself in 2020 to stay on top of your finances in the New Year and beyond.
1. Keep track of how much you make and how much you spend
2. Manage your debt
3. Invest in your future
"If you do those three things, it opens up the world to you in terms of what you can do with your money because you don't have an anchor that you're dragging along with you in debt and you understand what you're spending," Morey said.
Other tips include budgeting, saving up for an emergency fund and getting a handle on your credit score.
