Students at Bell Elementary in Papillion hit the hill this week for some fresh air and a quick lesson in sledding safety.
They learned how to go up and down the hill safely, keep an eye on those around them and even the right way to fall off the sled to limit injury.
Physical education teacher Molly Checksfield brought the sledding education class to Bell Elementary ten years ago. She says, "What we are trying to teach the kids is that even though it's cold outside, there are still opportunities to be active outside. Get some fresh air, have fun with friends.. But do it safely."
