OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Online predators are a top concern for parents. Kinetic Secure recently won an award for their ability to help parents monitor their child's activity and keep them safe.
"I have two 14-year-old girls that scare me the most, and my 11-year-old son," said Stephanie Laux, spokesperson for Kinetic Secure by Windstream. "The hardest part is trying to keep up with all of the apps. I spot check. And video games is another way people can infiltrate into your kids lives."

"It gives the parents some tools like parental controls," Laux said. "They can block a whole category of topics by a keyword, they don't want their kids to go to websites that have this specific topic. They can also block specific websites."
Laux says blocking off time periods when kids can and cannot use the their devices helps tremendously as well.
And while the software is great, nothing beats plenty of open and honest conversations.
You also want to keep the computer in a high traffic area inside the home.
