VALLEY, Neb. (KMTV) - The power of what 80 to 90 mile per hour winds can do is seen throughout neighborhoods with debris and trees narrowly missing houses and vehicles.
Steve Vencil spent his Wednesday morning cleaning and clearing the Ash Tree lying on the sidewalk, just feet away from his home.
“It wasn't really that noisy,” he says when describing Tuesday’s severe weather. “It was just windy. I heard 100 mph winds. Tree just kind of slowly fell over.”
Nearby, an identical story – only lighting took credit.
Tim Hatcher says luckily no one lives next door where a cracked tree fell over.
Like dominos, it also knocked over another tree before collapsing on the vacant home and partially landing on Hatcher’s garage, where he parked his SUV.
“I just started it up and pulled it out slow and that one branch caught it but it didn't damage my vehicle,” Hatcher says. “It was a miracle.”
Call it a close-up to a close call, Mother Nature’s strength might be on full display today, according to storm predictions by the 3 News Now meteorology team.
