A student brought a weapon to Buffett Magnet Middle School on Monday, according to a release sent to families by Omaha Public Schools. Omaha Police later confirmed it was a handgun.
The OPS release states the administration was made aware of a student who brought a handgun to campus, immediately investigated and found the weapon.
The release also states that it was an isolated incident and that no students or staff were in danger. Additionally, OPS is cooperating with Omaha Police and working with the family of the student involved.
