Instead of choosing the nest OPS superintendent Monday evening, the school board had to discuss how they were going to start all over after all three candidates withdrew from consideration.
This past weekend the final two candidates, Paul Gausmen and Khalid Kumin, sent a joint letter stating their withdrawal.

Board President Lacey Merica says the nine-member board appeared to not agree on either candidate, her common phrase was they did not have a consensus among the board.
The accountability committee, that Merica is on, contacted the search firm and the firm contacted the candidates.
Several board members were not happy they were not included in the decision to tell the search firm.
“This conversation should have come to the full board and we should have had this conversation in the public so there is a level of transparency and the number one complaint I heard today alone is there is a lack of transparency,” said Yoland Williams.
During the board meeting over a dozen people spoke during public comment, and they were not happy.
The board says the accountability committee with meet again on Tuesday and deside how they will appoint an interim superintendent for the 2017-18 school year.
