COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (KMTV) — A Council Bluffs mother is outraged because a family outing at the Mall of the Bluffs on Sunday evening turned into a disgusting experience for her son.

Her 14-year-old son says he went in the bathroom at the mall and a man was recording him with an iPhone over the top of the stall. The boy quickly ran out and called his mom who was in another part of the mall.

The Council Bluffs Police Department is investigating and says the suspect was described as an Asian male, possibly in his 40's, driving a white SUV.

We won't identify the mother for the boy's protection.

"He was shaken and upset. I also have a daughter at home and she's shaken and upset and not sleeping well," the mother explained. "As a parent I'm completely mortified I'm so sad that this happened in my community."

CBPD and the Omaha Police Department say they haven't had any other similar reports recently.

The head of security for the Mall of the Bluffs said they did try to chase down the suspect but he got away before they could get a license plate, and that the boy didn't initially want them to call police. He did with his mother when they got home.

"I would hope if anybody's had any type of experience similar to this that they would come forward because if this person could be caught it could prevent a lot of trauma for other people," the mother concluded.

If you have any information on who the suspect is or had a similar experience contact the Council Bluffs Police Department at 712-328-4701.
