The Nebraska State Patrol says this week is one of the most dangerous weeks for traffic crashes. Triple A says distracted driving causes a large number of those crashes.
"Last year there were nearly 15 hundred people injured in distracted driving crashes. 12 people killed and overall about 45 hundreds crashes that involve property damages," Rose White, Triple-A public affairs director said.
Both agencies are using the holiday season to remind you your life is more important than sending a text or checking an app.
"Anytime you take your eyes off the road, to tune the radio to look around you are distracted," Kevin Chase with Nebraska State Patrol said.
The state patrol reminds people to buckle up.
The annual Click It or Ticket campaign begins this week to help keep holiday travelers safe.
