OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A two vehicle crash near the airport left three people injured on Thursday night.

Officers were called to Abbott drive around 10:30 p.m. Upon investigation, a 2004 Pontiac GTO was northbound on Abbott Drive when the vehicle left the roadway over the median barrier where it collided with approximately four trees. The car came to rest in the southbound lanes of Abbott Drive. The collision with the trees caused tree debris to hit a southbound 2004 Honda Accord.

The driver and passenger of the GTO and the driver of the Honda were transported to Nebraska Medicine with injuries. Speed, alcohol, and lack of seat belt use are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash.

The driver of the Pontiac, Michael Brown, suffered minor shoulder and neck injuries. His passenger, Monique Thomas, suffered serious injuries to her arm, ribs, pelvis, and head. Her injuries are not considered life threatening.

Shaelynn Vopalensky was identified as the driver of the Honda and she suffered an ankle injury.
