OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Former Husker Tommie Frazier is hoping to make a difference with the Inaugural Tommie Frazier Foundation's "Tee it up for kids" golf event.

Frazier started his Foundation in 2016 with the goal of raising funds and partnering with other organizations to help fund the cost of youth sports for families in the metro.

"Several years ago, when my son started playing youth football, some of his friends were unable to play because their families couldn't afford to pay the registration fees," Frazier said. "I felt something needed to be done. Sports has had such a positive impact on my life and it doesn't seem fair some kids can't experience that because their families can't afford it."

"Tee it up for kids" takes place on Saturday, June 3rd at Shadow Ridge Country Club and starts at 12:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will go directly to paying sports registration fees for metro youth.
