Strong wind gust at 50 mph caused a family in north Omaha to awaken to an uninvited guest inside their home: a tree.

According to 911 dispatch, the call came in just before 2 a.m. Friday near 51st and Curtis avenues.

The large tree, which used to stand between two houses, crashed into a deck and partially landed in the kitchen - busting out windows, bringing down electrical wiring without knocking out the power.

Cordai Beck, 10, awoke in the middle of the night when he said he heard a large "boom."

It sounded like a volcano erupting, he told 3 News Now.

"All of a sudden, I heard a big boom. So [my and I] ran into the middle of the room wondering what happened and we looked at the kitchen and we saw a big tree going into our screen door," he says.

The family says the crash didn't hurt anyone.
