A close call for an Iowa State Trooper has law enforcement reminding drivers to move over.
A video tweeted out by Trooper Alex Dinkla shows a trooper conducting a traffic stop and you see a truck go speeding by, barely missing the trooper. Luckily the trooper was OK but a few more inches could have been a deadly situation.
This @iowastatepatrol Trooper was extremely lucky!

“It unfortunately seems to happen all too often, any officer who has been on the road any amount of time has a story,” said Sergeant Eric Kauffman with the Nebraska State Trooper’s.
Kauffman said people need to pay more attention law enforcement on the side of the road.
“You have a lot of close calls, I have been hit once myself at 120th and L street, we were pushed across three lanes of traffic during rush hour,” he said. “We all have families, we all have loved ones we want to get home to and we'd like to be able to do that.”
A driver's side mirror can b replaced on a patrol vehicle.
A life can not.
THANKFULLY today it was just a mirror#MoveOver

Nebraska law does require drivers to move over or slow down.
“A lot of times people get into a rush, and people get into that tunnel vision where they think, 'this is the lane I am in, this is where I have to go' and a lot of times you get so focused on that you might not notice what is ahead of you.”
Kauffman said the warm weather is right around the corner and it's a good reminder for drivers to really pay more attention.
“Let's face it, when the weather is nice, everybody wants to be out and that is fine, but what people need to keep in mind is, just because the roads are dry, just because the weather is nice, they still need to reduce their speed, they still need to give a lot of driving distance and don't get complacent on the road.”
