NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Two people have been arrested after a pursuit that began in North Platte and ended near Maxwell on Thursday morning.

Around 1:15 a.m., a trooper spotted a Chevrolet Silverado speeding with a broken headlight while traveling eastbound on East State Farm Road, south of I-80 in North Platte. The trooper attempted to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled, turning northbound onto Newberry Access Road toward I-80.

The vehicle entered I-80 eastbound, driving in the left lane, which is currently a construction zone for two miles. The driver reached speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour. The car then exited I-80 near Maxwell, traveling south on Spur 56A until stopping in a ditch.

Both subjects fled on foot into a field, but surrendered a short time later. The driver, Logan Reed, 24, and passenger Shellyna Nesslein, 18, were both arrested. Reed was arrested for willful reckless driving, obstructing a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, among other charges. Nesslein was arrested for obstructing a peace officer.
