OMAHA, Neb. (kmtv) — For some families, access to healthcare doesn't come easy.
University of Nebraska medical students helped connect refugee families with health education.
Bridge to Care, a student-led organization, says many refugee's don't have access to healthcare.
The group is working to change that with an annual event.
They hosted a free health fair for families to meet with medical professional and insurance companies.
"We also have different vendors that come in and they help them to have access to dental screening, eye screening, skin cancer screening, among others," Health Fair Coordinator Josiane Kabayundo said.
Other resources participants had access to were flu shots, and blood pressure checks.
