The Phi Gamma Delta fraternity at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has been suspended until May 2020.
The suspension is the result of a university investigation that uncovered a number of violations of the Student Code of Conduct, which included what the university called reckless alcohol use, hazing, and inappropriate sexually based behavior and sexually harassing conduct. That includes comments made by fraternity members outside the fraternity house during a woman's march on January 21st.
The suspension means the university no longer recognizes Phi Gamma Delta as a greek organization at UNL, and it's chapter has been revoked. Freshmen pledges will not be allowed to live in the fraternity house starting on May 10th. Phi Gamma Delta can petition for reinstatement in 2019. If reinstated, the fraternity would be on probation for two years.
The university had placed Phi Gamma Delta on interim suspension on February 7th.
On Monday, Creighton University suspended the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity until 2025 for Student Code of Conduct violations which included underage drinking, drug use, and hazing.
