UNMC gets $2.6 million grant

The University of Nebraska Medical Center has received a $2.6 million grant it hopes improve patient care by engaging more registered nurses in the management of patients. 

According to a release, the grant will allow UNMC to focus on updating the undergraduate nursing curriculum, develop a nursing education program for registered nurses to improve primary care and creating an urban and rural nurse-managed care team. 

"The grant provides an excellent opportunity for the college's three missions, education, clinical practice and research to intersect," UNMC's College of Nursing Dean Juliann Sebastian said. "We are very excited to be part of this national initiative and to be able to provide our students with an innovative clinical primary care experience.
