UNMC unveils new training trucks

Four new trucks will play a big role in making sure you can get quality medical care, even in small towns.

The University of Nebraska Medical Center showed off the new "Simulation in Motion Nebraska" trucks.

The mobile training units will go throughout the state, helping first responders brush up on skills they only rarely need.

Paramedics call the training essential.

"We're able to practice those skills on these mannequins and simulators, so we're much more comfortable with them and we feel more confident in providing care for that type of emergency," said Brian Monaghan.

A grant will pay for the mobile training program for the next three years.

Organizers are working to find other ways to pay for it after that.
