A veteran in Omaha says an apartment complex near 132nd and Fort removed his American flag, which was hanging outside on his apartment patio.
Larry Elsasser says he received a call last Friday, that flags had been taken down by staff at Standing Bear Lake Apartments near 132nd and Fort.
Elsasser is a Navy veteran and has grandchildren in the Armed Forces. His says flying the American flag is a right and was heartbroken to find his flags removed.
He says staff removed an American flag hanging on his patio and a Husker flag that was hanging inside the apartment unit and displayed in the window.
Elsasser says he was never given a clear reason why the flags were removed, and there is no mention in his lease about displaying flags.
He hopes the apartment complex will reconsider their policy.
