Omaha street maintenance engineer Austin Rowser gives an up-close and personal tour of some of the city's snowplow equipment.
"These are the saddle tanks. They carry the brine mix with beet juice. It's the pre-wet," he said while pointing out containers on the side of the truck.
Moving around the back, Rowser explained how salt is spread from the truck.
"The chain pulls the salt out. The salt then drops down into here. There's a spinner there. This unit right here spins. That's what actually shoots the salt out." (Watch the extended interview in the video player above)
