Drivers heading southbound on Interstate 680 were surprised to find the busy I-L-Q exit closed Wednesday.
The closure had been scheduled for earlier in the week.
Driver Pat Wilson was detoured to West Center. The road was noticeably slower throughout the day.
"i'm not pleased," Wilson said. "It's going to be a fiasco."
Sarah Spooner, owner of Four Sisters clothing store in the nearby Rockbrook Center, says drivers were on edge when she rode in Wednesday morning.
"I could tell all the people getting off were frustrated and angry," Spooner said. "I go that route and so I got off perfectly fine, but I could tell they were all getting frustrated and had to go up 108th."
She says while it's a pain, there might be a silver lining to all the extra traffic near her shop.
"I think it will be good for business," Spooner said. "It just happened today, so I cant really tell the impact that it will have on the business but I think it will bring people in more after work or before work."
The closure is expected to last three months.
