Walk and Roll for Disabilities raises $30K

Posted

A local organization raised more than $30,000 Sunday at the 12th annual Walk and Roll for Disabilities at Oak View Mall.

The event organized by the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities raises money for recreation services for adults with developmental disabilities at the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation.

Foundation Chairwoman Mary McHale says it is a great opportunity for families to meet others in similar situations.

"And we can provide those opportunities for those families and let them know about those other opportunities and the choices that are available. It's a great way to help enrich their lives because they get to do the same thing their peers are doing around them," said McHale.

The money will be used for cooking classes, dance and swimming lessons and group outings.
