Crews are preparing part of the West Dodge expressway near 150th Street for a weekend closing for the demolition of the bridge.

Starting at 10 p.m. Friday, westbound lanes of the expressway will be closed until 6 a.m. Monday, according to the City of Omaha Public Works Department.

Eastbound lanes will undergo a similar closure period from Friday, March 23 through Monday, March 26, the department said.

The 150th Street bridge was closed Monday morning and is expected to remain closed until December.

For those who live nearby like Jo Roza, they noticed a difference in traffic in the area already, "Well it definitely makes it more of a challenge to get in and out of the neighborhood."

Roza wishes there wasn't so many road construction projects in west Omaha, "There's a little pain with it, I just wish there wasn't pain at 144th, 150th, 156th and 168th".
