Westside Community Schools adjust budget cuts

As Westside Community School administrators look to close a $4 million budget deficit, tough decision were made Monday night at its Board of Education meeting.

Westside superintendent Blane McCann proposed to the board to eliminate the elementary Spanish program entirely without replacing it with the computer software Rosetta Stone.

The instructional music instructor job will be safe after a huge outcry from students and parents worried the elimination of that position could be severely detrimental to the program.

McCann requested his salary and other administer salaries be frozen for the foreseeable future.

This budget proposal will get a final look in the Fall when the Westside Board of Education will officially vote on the entire budget.
