Warmer weather means more trips to the zoo, and more backups in the parking lot and while the Henry Doorly Zoo has made some positive strides, there's still work being done.

A few years back the zoo purchased the old Rosenblatt Stadium, where they put 1,000 parking sports. Since then, the entire parking lot as been renovated for easier access. The zoo brought in Warner Drive which allowed more stacking of people coming off 13th Street and made Bob Gibson a two-way to facilitate coming and going.

Additionally, more attendants have been added to keep track of full lots and open spaces and parking garage is not out of the question in the future, but zoo director Dennis Pate says the primary focus is animal welfare, guest services and education.

For now, Nebraska State Troopers ave advised those who use the 13th Street exit off I-80 to get to the Zoo, especially with construction and shifting lanes in the area.
