What's driving you crazy: Pierce Street one way

Pierce Street, which was once a two-way street, has been a one-way between 6th and 8th Streets since 2012.

"It was done because we had constant complaints of truck traffic in the along that area," Todd Pfitzer from Omaha Public Works said.

Speed was also a problem, so speed bumps were added.

A public meeting was held to get the input of residents about making Pierce a two-way street again, but residents with concerns were not present.

Pfitzer said if the City got enough signatures from residents in the area, it would get changed back. And one resident tried.

Pat Vanditte, who called the one way an inconvenience for those living in the area, attempted to gather signatures but did not get enough.

"If they would have asked the people who lived here," he said, "they would have had many, many objections over the one way street."
