Snow and ice are inevitable as we inch closer to the winter. Slipping and sliding on the road will happen, but there are ways to keep those risks low.
"City ordinance requires vehicles to be equipped with proper winter tires, I would recommend cars be prepared accordingly," street maintenance engineers Austin Rower said.
It is important to have an emergency safety kit in your car, which could include: batteries, a flashlight, extra clothes, a shovel, a rope and a blanket.
As for city trucks helping keep the streets clear and safe, their plan is in place.
"We prepare for the winter by going through our equipment and making sure everything is in proper working order," the city said in a statement, "filling our salt supplies, having contracts in place and training our people for preparedness."
