Backstage at a Christmas Carol, nearly two dozen child actors head to their places.
But new this year, in between the songs and the bahumbugs, these actors are getting a higher education.
In two 45 minute sessions, Jens Rasmmussen, an academy associate with the Omaha Playhouse leads the kids in exercises that gets them to work together and creatively.
"When they are off stage, they are doing classwork theater games and theater curriculum,” Rasmmussen said.
The kiddos also work on each other’s confidence and encourage each other.
Teaching life skills.
Beyond the skills they'll master on stage.
"Whether they end up being a craftsman, or an it person, or a CEO, or a politician, the confidence, the collaborative, creative problem solving, all of those skills, transfer and make you excel in whatever your career is,” Rasmmussen said.
"A Christmas Carol" is playing at the Omaha Community Playhouse until December 23rd.
