It's always a full house, a little chaotic and the Venteicher household, but that's how Sue Venteicher likes it.
Today, she's watching the four grandkids. That's nothing new. Just this fall, Venteicher's youngest of seven went off to college.
This empty nest status was nothing to be scoffed at. This mom, who also works as a phlebotomy trainer and educator at Children's Hospital and Medical Center, just loves kids. She also loves her community and giving back. A few of her friends noticed, and nominated her for the American Mother's Mom to Mom conference. She won the Nebraska mother of the year.
"One thing my husband and I have been lucky with is we haven't gotten here and raised all these kids without help. We have good neighbors, good teachers, kids's coaches," she said.
Venteicher will travel to DC later this month to give a speech on strengths and giving back to others.
