The Lincoln Children's Zoo has some new additions this Spring.
Those additions include Johnny, and African serval.
"Johnny can leap 8-feet in the air kids didn't know that. But when they see him doing it they learned they own it," says John Chapo, Zoo president and CEO.
Just 45 minutes from the metro, the Lincoln Children's Zoo is much smaller than Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, but the intimate setting offers a different experience of animal encounters. Of the 200 animals on exhibit at the zoo, children can interact up close with about 50.
"We want children to get connected with critters. And when they get connected they become stewards and their future children of earth today are our leaders of tomorrow and we want them to be passionate about taking care of the critters and the beautiful planet that we have," Chapo said.
