Nebraska baseball completes weekend sweep

Posted

The Huskers just completed their first weekend sweep of the season after Sunday's 6-2 win over College of Charleston. Nebraska improved to 9-8 on the season after picking up three wins this weekend.

Pitching was the key in this weekend's series as Nebraska allowed just four runs over three games. Jake Meyers continued his hot streak at the mound Sunday as he pitched his third-straight start without allowing a run.

The lefty allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out three batters Sunday. Meyers tossed a complete-game shutout against Western Carolina a week ago. Dating back to last season, Meyers has now gone 21.2 consecutive innings without allowing a run.

Nebraska's offense was clicking as well, coming up with 22 runs on 29 hits in the three-game series with College of Charleston. Six different Huskers recorded a hit Sunday, while top hitters Mojo Hagge and Angelo Altavilla each came up with two RBI's.

Altavilla leads the Huskers offensively, posting a .354 batting average through 16 games. Scott Schrieber leads the team in RBIs with 17.

Up next, the Huskers head to California to take on CSU Bakersfield Tuesday. Nebraska will then head to Cal Poly to play four games in three days starting Thursday.
