Just about three weeks ago, former Husker assistant coach, Bob Elliott, passed away at the age of 64. He was hired by Nebraska in February, and although his time in Lincoln was short, his impact is still being felt by this year's Husker squad.
Elliott was known for having great relationships with his players, and that was shown by his close bond with NU's junior safety, Aaron Williams.
"We had a close relationship," Williams said. "I looked at him as more than a coach, I looked at him as a person I could go talk to."
And Nebraska's head coach, Mike Riley, also got the chance to witness this close relationship.
"I'd go down the dining hall and see those two guys, 63-year old defensive backs coach [Elliott] and Aaron Williams having lunch together," Riley said. "That was a fun, fun picture for me."
