The Omaha men's basketball team falls to South Dakota State in Summit League Championships

The Omaha men's basketball team fell to South Dakota State in the Summit League Championships Tuesday night. 

Omaha opened the game with a 4-0 run to hold the lead until South Dakota State's Skyler Flatten canned a three-pointer to tie the game 24-24 with 8:24 remaining in the first half. The Jackrabbits took their first lead of the night with a Reed Tellinghuisen three to make it 27-26 with 6:26 left to play in the first half. As the clock ran out in the first half South Dakota State started to make a separation leading 37-31 at halftime. 

The Mavericks opened up the second half with a 9-0 run to take back the lead 40-37 within the first minute of the second half. It was a tight game after with a back and forth battle for the lead. 

The game came down to the last shot with Omaha trailing 79-77. Omaha's Tra-Deon Hollins missed the three-pointer to win with just four seconds to play. South Dakota State is the 2017 Summit League Champions. 

Omaha's Tre'Shawn Thurman led four Mavericks in the double-digits with 21 points. 

South Dakota State's Mike Daum dominated on offense and defense recording a double-double with 37 points and 12 rebounds. Jackrabbits' Chris Howell and Reed Tellinghuisen also finished in double-digits for SDSU.
