OMAHA, Neb. — Business owners have had it tough during the pandemic. Layoffs, furloughs and pay cuts seem to be a common theme. But one local donut shop has persevered after months of delays to their grand opening and has already had an incredible response from the community weeks before opening.

It may just look like a lot of boxes and t-shirts inside the 120th and Blondo location now, but soon when all the finishing touches come together the new Hurts Donut Co. will open September 30.

"It's been a long, drawn process of course with the virus as everybody knows. We picked a difficult time to open a business," co-owner Blake Jochim said.

Dedicated customers are already showing up to the business to get special offers by buying t-shirts and other merchandise. Once doors open, they'll be open 24 hours, 365 days a year.

"Everything is handmade right here which is the best thing about us. We are open 24 hours a day so we never stop baking," owner Lindsey Jochim said.

All those hours and days of operation requires a lot of staff. The business is bringing in some much needed job opportunities to the area by actively hiring for multiple positions.

"We require a large, large staff because we are open 24/7, 365 so we have to have roughly 100 employees on hand," Blake Jochim said.

Their hiring technique is lighthearted and fun just like their overall brand. Some "job requirements" include employees going at least 11 minutes without making a TikTok, breathing daily and having an appreciation of some skillful sarcasm.

"Our goal is to make our customers leave laughing and just have the best possible experience," Blake Jochim added.

The grand opening is September 30. Special offers and activities are available on the company's Facebook site before the big day.
