Researchers from UNMC, University of Nebraska at Kearney and a University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension will launch a $20,000 pilot study to determine the risk of opioid and alcohol abuse by persons 19 and older in rural communities.
The researchers are joining efforts to raise awareness among rural agricultural workers about the dangers of opioid abuse.
The team also hopes to determine the feasibility of intervening using an anonymous, self-screening questionnaire.
