University officials cited “recent international events” for the changes, but said they weren’t related to any specific threats.
1. Arrive early
Fans are asked to get to the game early. Gates, which will have increased security measures, will open 90 minutes before kickoff at 2:30 p.m.
2. Gate closures
Two gates, 6 and 8, will be closed, while six others, 1, 17, 18, 19, 21 and 22, will close at kickoff. If the gate on your ticket is closed, use the next available open gate to get in.
3. Visual inspections
Fans will be required to open outer garments for visual inspection. Blankets will be allowed in the stadium, but fans are otherwise encouraged to leave unnecessary belongings at home.
Husker fans are preparing for the enhanced security measures.
"I generally try not to bring anything to the games I don't absolutely don;'t have to have there's no room, I'm not a big person and I don't fit on that seat," said Husker fan Brianna Bass.
"We'll probably go to the stadium a little early now," said Bid Rowski.
"I guess we'll see if it slows down lines at all or that sort of thing could be a problem," said Husker fan Spencer Hartman.
Organizers remind fans of the “If you see something, say something,” initiative. Reports can be made via text message by texting “UNLPD” to 69050, or contacting the nearest staff member.
