Following new safety recommendations released by the MLB, Kauffman Stadium will add new netting to keep fans safe during the Royals' 2016 Championship season.
The MLB recommended in December that all clubs expand the netting in their home stadiums to shield fans seated near dugouts and within 70 feet of home plate.

According to a press release from the Royals, two additional sections of netting (pictured above) will be installed in front of the seats near home plate in Kauffman Stadium.
This added protection will hopefully keep fans safe from being struck by broken bats or foul balls — a fate that Bloomberg says befalls more than a thousand baseball fans each year.
