The Nebraska state basketball tournament entered its semifinal phase on Friday.  In Class A Omaha South ousted Papillion-La Vista 67-52 to secure a place in the finals.  Their opponent will be Fremont who upset Creighton Prep in the semifinals.  In Class B Gretna knocked off Omaha Skutt to earn a bid into the finals.  Wahoo Neumann and Elmwood-Murdock are also local teams that find themselves just one more win away from a state championship.

Over in Iowa it was Council Bluffs St. Albert trying to play cinderella, but the slipper didn't fit.  The 8th seeded Falcons fell just short in the 1A State Finals against South O'Brien-Paullina.
