MALVERN, Iowa — It's hard to imagine making it through the Winter months without a coat. So one worker at a bank in Malvern, Iowa came up with a way to help people warm up a little bit this winter.
Need a coat? Take one. Want to help? Leave one. It's written on a sign outside the Malvern Bank next to a rack of free coats. Kenzie Meggison put the coats out Wednesday afternoon after realizing she had some to spare. "My son outgrew his coats from last year that I was trying to hold on to but I'm like ya know what, there's somebody else that needs them more than I do," she said.
Coats of all sizes along with hats, gloves and scarves will be left outside for people to pick up at any time. "I don't ever want anybody to feel like they can't come and get one or be embarrassed or anything like that," said Meggison.
Meggison plans to leave the coat rack out for a week. She said Thursday morning she noticed a couple new coats had been added and four had been taken,
