Parkinson's disease is a life-changing condition that has no cure. While advances have been made in treatment and symptom management, many people with Parkinson's fluctuate between periods in which symptoms are controlled and periods during which symptoms return, or OFF periods.
"Live Well. Do Tell." is a new initiative, created by Acorda with input from a multi-disciplinary steering committee of Parkinson's leaders and experts, to build an understanding and awareness of OFF periods and bridge communication gaps among PwPs, care partners, advocates and HCPs. The first output of the initiative - a statement of need - includes six recommendations on how the Parkinson's community can address gaps in the support of PwPs and their care partners with respect to identifying and communicating about Parkinson's symptoms.
